Baked Tortilla Chips

Baked tortilla chips - a healthier alternative when you want your favorite crispy snack.

Baked tortilla chips - a healthier alternative when you want your favorite crispy snack.

Inspiration:

One of my favorite snacks is chips & guacamole. There’s a reason chips taste so good, and that’s because they are often fried in oil - which isn't always the healthiest option. In this healthier alternative, you can use tortillas of your choice (whole wheat, spelt, corn, flour, blue corn) and they are baked in the oven. These baked tortilla chips are great for snacking or serving on the side with taco salad or a spicy soup.

Ingredients:

2-3x approx. 8” tortillas of your choice (wheat, corn, flour, whole grain, blue corn, etc…)
1 Tbsp of oil (olive, coconut or avocado) or oil spray
Salt + assorted seasonings (optional)

Instructions:

Pre-heat the oven to 350 F

Stack tortillas and cut into desired shapes.

Spray or lightly oil cookie sheet.

Lay down tortillas.

Spray or lightly oil the top of tortillas.

Season with salt + assorted seasonings (optional).

Bake for 7-10’, and then keep a close eye (they can burn quickly!) for another few minutes until tortillas as golden brown.

A quick note:

Makes 1 large tray of chips, recipe can easily be doubled for more.

Feeling spicy? Try adding cayenne or chili powder seasoning.

This will keep on the counter or in the pantry for 2-3 days, or in the fridge for a week.
